    Speaker Bios

    Cory Lebson (@corylebson) has been a user experience consultant for nearly 20 years.  He is the principal and owner of Lebsontech LLC, a successful small user experience consulting firm he established in 1997. Lebsontech is focused on user research and evaluation, user experience strategy, UX training, and mentoring.

    Cory also greatly enjoys teaching topics related to user experience and technology and conducts regular talks and workshops on topics related to UX career development, user experience, user research, information architecture, and accessibility.  He has been featured on the radio and has published a number of articles in a variety of professional publications. He is currently authoring the UX Careers Handbook to be published in 2016 by Focal Press.

    Cory has an MBA in marketing and technology management, as well as an MA in sociology and a BS in psychology. Cory is a past president of the User Experience Professionals Association (UXPA) International and is also a past president of the UXPA DC Chapter.

    John Whalen (Founder and CEO at Brilliant Experience)
    John Whalen has a PhD in Cognitive Science with over 15 years of User-Centered Design experience. He currently leads Brilliant Experience – a consultancy that supports intra- and entrepreneurs to ensure the success of mission-critical innovation projects by using our unique blend of user-centered design, psychology, design thinking and lean startup techniques.

    John’s specialty is to provide businesses with competitive advantages using a mix of user research insights and expert knowledge of human vision, attention and memory. He has experience (and great stories to tell from) working with Fortune 500 clients in the ecommerce, financial, healthcare and government verticals. John’s currently focusing on helping large enterprises integrate brain science into agile, design thinking, and UCD projects.

    Faz Besharatian instructed GA DC's first UXDI course. He started his migration away from print design in 1996 and has been building digital experiences ever since. Throughout his design career Faz has worked for AARP, AOL, US Airways, USWeb/CKS, and others. Today he is an independent design consultant focused on product design for companies big and small. 

    Stephanie Pratt (@stephaniempratt) is a User Experience Designer/Researcher at mHelpDesk. She holds a Master's in Human Factors Psychology from George Mason University. She has experience working as a contractor and as an internal UXer for a large Fortune 500 company and a startup. Stephanie is a strong advocate for involving users/customers in product development through interviews, usability testing, and other research techniques.
